Friday, 16/05/08
Today is the submission of all the assignments!!! Some of them already finish their work, while others are still doing. As for me, of coz I'm still doing. Before i can finish what I'm suppose to finish, the time is up and i have to submit what I've done.



















Monday, 12/05/08
First, we are to submit our home activity. For this home activity, we need to shade using normal shading and dot shading. Dot shading is quite difficult and tedious. The dot is so small, therefore i need to make alot of dots so that it form gradient. Next, is the drawing of circles continuously without lifting the pencil. Starting when i draw, the circles was quite nice. But as i continue, the circles become deform and the gap in between the circles are not constant anymore. Lastly is the drawing of lines to 45 degree without lifting the pencil. The lines i drew ain't very straight.

And then, there's an activity for us to do. It is drawing of human figure. As expected, we need to find a partner to complete this activity. Before that, the lecturers gave us a lesson on how to start drawing human figure. They also taught us some techniques on drawing. In the end, my drawing doesn't really look like my partner. But my partner's drawing really look like me.

After we finish that activity, we are to submit 2 of our Mini me dolls to the lecturers. Actually, its not really submission of Mini me dolls. It is to let the lecturers see whether we need more improvements or not. I need to redo the last Mini me dolls, as the line is not straight. The lecturers told me to use machines in the workshop to cut instead of cutting it myself.

There is one more home activity that we need to complete before the holidays. As next Mon is a public holiday, we are told to submit it on next next Monday. And as for the other assignments, we are to submit all on Friday [16/05/08] Thats all for today.

Monday, 05/05/08
As usual, we pinned up our home activity. This home activity focus more on shading. Mine wasn't that great. I saw alot of great shading. For some people, they shaded until it looks as if it was printed from the printer. I was really impressed.

After that, we had a fun activity. We are to draw our hands and legs without looking at the paper. We can only look at our own hands and legs while drawing. The worse thing is that we had to draw the details, like fingernails as well. Some people still can draw quite well even though they can't see the paper. As for me, my drawings of hands and legs look as if it belongs to a demon or some sort of monster. Haha! My fingernails can even be drawn away from my hands.

We got the chance to go workshop today. Workshop in SP is quite different from workshop in Sec Sch. There is air-con in SP's workshop, while there isn't air-con in Sec Sch's workshop. We got to know the technician there as well. He's quite a nice guy and he introduces us the different kinds of machines.

After going workshop, we came back to the studio and work on our Russian Dolls. We are to draw and plan on how to make the Russian Dolls. We need to do the home activity and submit it on next Monday. Thats the end of today.












Friday, 02/05/08
Before lesson, i submitted my ping pong balls. But the lecturers gave it back to me, as they wanted us to pack the ping pong balls into the plastic container they bought. And of coz, we need to pay for the plastic container. Luckily, it is not that expensive. If I'm not wrong, its around $1.80.

Today is an interesting lesson. From this lesson, i got alot of knowledge regarding TOYS. Basically for today, the lecturers uses powerpoint slides to lecture us. At first, i thought it will be boring, as powerpoint slides is boring most of the time. But I'm wrong. This lecture allows me to see the differences between toys in the older days and toys in the modern days. I can see that toys is changing as time goes.

Take Mickey Mouse for example. In the older days, Mickey Mouse doesn't really looks cute. In fact, it looks scary. Compared to the older days Mickey Mouse, modern days Mickey Mouse looks very cute and kind looking.

Take dolls as another example. In the older days, dolls look very scary and ugly. But now, dolls look very pretty and they have nice figure too. Kids nowadays can buy clothes and shoes for the dolls to change.

I'm wondering how the toys in the future look like. Hmmm...

I'm sick today, therefore i did not go school. Heard from my friends that this Friday is the last day to submit the ping pong balls. And as for the drawings of the 5 combinations of shapes, we have to consult the lecturers to let them approve whether the combination is fine or not. As for me, I don't have the chance to consult the lecturers. So, I just make that combination of mine using the wire.

Its quite difficult to combine the 3 shapes together. Especially sphere, its difficult to make, and I used alot of time on it. The wire of the shapes is not very straight, as i kept bending it again and again. This makes the overall of my wire combination looks crooked. Thats all for today.

Monday, 28/04/08
Submitting of home activity is always first. This home activity also train us to control our pencil. We have to draw curve lines that touches the horizontal line and at the same time, we can't lift our pencil. Lastly, draw lines horizontally. My curves is a bit out of shape.

Starting of lesson, we pinned up the 9 views of fruit or vegetable we chosen a few days ago. I saw alot of wonderful drawings and as for mine, its not that good. My fruit is a small banana initially. Then i wanted to change it to starfruit. But before i drew the starfruit, i tried other fruits and vegetables too. In the end i still choose starfruit.

Later on, we need to do something bout the 2 acrylic sheets that the lecturers wanted us to buy and bring along today. Before that, we had to find a partner to complete this activity.

Our job is to draw our partner's image on the acrylic sheet. This means that we had to hold up the acrylic sheet, look at our partner through the acrylic sheet and draw. Its not only drawing of our partner, but to include every details in him/her. I find it difficult to view my partner through the acrylic sheet.

After finishing, my drawing doesn't really look like my partner. She look fatter in the acrylic sheet i drew. I also don't know why. I think its because i drew her not in proportion.

We still have to draw our partner on the other piece of acrylic sheet we brought. This time, there is additional thing to draw, which is the details of the background. And the distance is also further than the first drawing. Many people including me and my partner choose background that is easier to draw. Haha!

We also need to bring wires today. The wire is for us to make a 3D sphere, pryamid and square. Its difficult to bend the wire and the lecturers said that we can make use of the table to help us bend. Indeed, the table helped alot.

Before going back home, we were told to draw at home, at least 5 combinations of the objects we make using the wire just now. And home activity is a must to complete and submit next Mon. I guess thats all for today.









Friday, 25/04/08
Once again, we pinned up our 20 drawings of emotions. And finally, the lecturers accepted. So, we proceed to the next project. PING PONG BALLS!!!

Our job is to transfer the 20 drawings of emotions into the ping pong balls. This is quite difficult, as our drawings is in 2D, and the ping pong balls is a 3D object. Some people immediately drew their pictures on the ping pong balls using colouring materials. As for me, i have no confidence in doing this. Therefore, i use a pencil to draw the pictures on the ping pong balls first. Then use paint to paint the ping pong balls.

While drawing the pictures on the ping pong balls, i keep erasing again and again, coz it looks weird. I wasted alot of time drawing and in the end, alot of people finished quite alot of ping pong balls, while i just finished a few.

For the rest of the ping pong balls that i haven finsh, i have to finish it at home.



















Monday, 21/04/08
Before lesson, we had to submit the home activity given last Mon. That home activity teaches us how to control our pencil well. Firstly, we need to draw 3 horizontal lines. Secondly, draw zigzag lines that just touch the horizontal lines we drew at first, without lifting the pencil from the paper. Lastly, draw lines horiaontally. I had difficulties drawing the lines straightly and in the end, it doesn't look nice.

We need to bring a fruit or vegetable for today's lesson. I brought a real small banana. Haha! Immediately, i regret. A small banana is very difficult to draw, as it has not much features to draw. Almost every view look the same.

Before we draw the fruit or vegetable we brought, the lecturers taught us how to do shading and how to use grid lines to guide us when we draw. After that, we started drawing. We need to draw 9 views of the fruit or vegetable we brought. I had some problems. Finding views to draw is difficult, as almost all views are the same.

Then, shading is also a problem. I find it difficult to shade the small banana until it looks like a 3D drawing. Luckily, i still can seek help from the friends around me. But it still doesn't look good, as i need more practices. Before i can finish drawing, its lunch time. Therefore, i need to draw the remaining views at home. But i decided to draw starfruit instead of the small banana, as starfruit has more features.

After lunch, we need to present our favourite toy to everyone in T521, which means class 01,02 and 03. I chose a soft toy tortoise to present to everyone, as it is very meaningful to me. It was a birthday present from my Sec 4 class. It is the only present i got from that class. Therefore, i treasure and cherish it very much.

During this lesson, i saw alot of different toys that my schoolmates brought. Some students present their toys in a funny way which makes everyone laugh. Haha!

Finally, the part on presenting of toys has ended. The lecturers began to give out papers to us. Each of us received a sheet of paper which needs us to write down some of our personal information. But the main thing we need to focus on is the "EMOTIONS". We need to write down the 4 emotions that we, our self will normally get into.

My 4 emotions are HAPPY, SAD, EMO and ANGRY. The lecturers wanted us to draw something about each emotion. There's no theme restriction. So, we can draw anything we want for each emotion.

Before we went back home, we had briefing on what to do at home. We need to draw 20 drawings!!! Actually, not really 20, coz some we can cut and paste. We are given 5 themes, which is OBJECTS, PATTERNS, COLOURS, MATERIALS and ICONS. We need to draw 4 drawings for each theme and the 4 drawings must be the emotions we wrote on the paper previously. And again, home activity is needed to do. Alright, thats all for today.
